Build a member pocket
Introduction
Segmenting members is a very powerful way to hone in on a group of members you care about. Creating a member group allows you to easily see these members on the Members table, view them in reports, and see their latest activities. common examples of member groups weβve seen people make include:
- Potential ambassadors
- Beta testers
- Event invitees
- Past event participants
- Target organizations
Orbit has a bunch of very powerful filters that can be used to create these member groups. In this playbook, youβll learn how to:
- Easily create segments of members you care about using all of Orbitβs bells and whistles
- Add a tag to a group of members
- Analyze and monitor a group of members across the app
Letβs get started!
Steps
1) Build your member segment using sort, search, and filters
Sort: Love, Last Active, First created
Filter Type | |
Affiliation | Teammate or Member |

MIght end up being a playbook
Weβll do this by adding tags.
If you know the specific audience youβre looking for (ex. potential ambassadors, current beta testers, past event attendees), go to the Members table. Here, you can either use the filters to narrow in on a group, use the search bar to find specific members, or use a combo of the two. [Check out this guide to understand what filters we support, how you can sort, and what you can do with them TODO, and maybe examples of audiences you can do ]

Using the checkboxes to the left of the table, you can either select everyone that matches your filter set, or pick and choose members to include in your audience.
Want to verify if a member should be included? Click on a memberβs name and youβll see a profile preview that includes Orbit Level, job, organization, latest activities, and more β all of which will help you quickly assess this member. [screenshot here later]
Once youβre happy with your selected members, click βApply Tagβ. [add picture]
This will now make it easy for you to identify this segment in the future.

[maybe this will show you that you need more data to segment your members as you need - so can go back and connect more]
