LinkedIn integration
The LinkedIn integration for Orbit will automatically ingest comments on posts from whichever Organizations you assign to the account. We'll create a new member profile for every commenter through a historical import when the integration is first connected, or we'll add a comment activity to members that already exist.
The table below summarizes what is included in this integration:
Activities | - Comments on posts on an Company Profile/Organization page |
Historical Import | - Up to 100,000 comments or 365 days retrospectively from the date of connecting the integration to Orbit |
Does not track or import | - Reactions or Likes
- Any of the information related to your personal LinkedIn account, including account activity, DMs and personal posts |
Installing the LinkedIn integration
After creating your Orbit workspace, you can add the LinkedIn integration from the Integrations page in your workspace's Settings.

LinkedIn is available from the Integrations page of your workspace's Settings. You may be required to upgrade your Orbit account in order to access it.
After clicking on LinkedIn, you'll see a pop up like the one below. You should check that you are either completely logged out of LinkedIn in a separate window, or logged into the account that you want to connect to Orbit.
Which account to use?
You can use any LinkedIn account that has been given administrator access to the organization page you want to track. You can use your own account, ask someone else in your Org or create a shared account and give it access to the page you want to track, it's up to you. If at some stage you need to change the account, remove the LinkedIn integration and add it back using the new account. No past data will be lost if you do this.

Once you are happy to proceed, click onΒ Connect LinkedIn. If you are not logged into LinkedIn you will be redirected to their site and asked to log in with your normal LinkedIn account credentials, after which you will need to give Orbit the correct permissions to access the data we need to sync activities to your workspace.
If you are already logged into LinkedIn, you will immediately be asked to give permission for the Orbit app to access your account.

At this time the LinkedIn integration will only store comments from your Organization's posts. We do not import reactions or other data even though you are asked to give permission for this. Should this change in future, you will not need to grant us any new access. The Orbit applicationΒ does not have write access to your personal LinkedIn account, or any of the Organization pages you have access to.
Once you allow access you will be redirected back to the settings page for the LinkedIn integration in the Orbit application.

To complete the setup, you must now select the Organizations that you want to sync with Orbit.
You can select more than one and your choices can be changed at any time but please note that if you laterΒ deselectΒ an Organization the activities related to posts on that account will not be removed from your workspace.
Once you have selected the Organization(s) that you want to use, clickΒ Save.
The setup is complete at this point and a historical import will begin to bring in previous activity (this can take up to a few hours to complete).
Historical Import
By default the LinkedIn integration will import the past 365 days of comments or up to 100,000 previous comment activities.
Activity Types
The LinkedIn integration will create one new Activity Type on your workspace;Β Commented on Post.
If you want to edit any of the metadata associated with this Activity Type you can find it in your workspace's Settings underΒ Activity Types.

From here you can edit the associated text, as well as the weight given to these activities. By default the weight is 1.0, but if you want to give a higher weight to comments on LinkedIn you can do so.

Please note that if you change the weight of an activity type, only activities created after that point will be given the new weight. If you want to apply a new weight to historical activities as well, please contact [email protected] and let us know which activity type(s) you would like to have reweighed.
Removing the LinkedIn integration
If you want to remove the LinkedIn integration you can do so from the integration settings page.

Please note that removing an integration does not delete the activities associated with it. If you would like to remove all LinkedIn activity from your workspace, contact [email protected]
FAQ
What activity types does the LinkedIn integration support?
Currently, the LinkedIn integration only imports comments on posts from your organization. It does not import reactions - though we will be adding this in the near future!
