Recruit coworkers to connect with the community
If you’re trying to
Step 1) Decide what a warm welcome should look like for your community
Depending on your team’s size, resources, and dynamic, your warm welcome will look different. It could be:
- a DM conversation
- inviting them to a meetup
- having a 15 minute intro call
- meeting up in-person for a coffee chat
Figure out what you think would be most appreciated by your community and most doable for you and your colleagues.
Step 2) Find out your team’s capacity for warm welcomes
A warm welcome is an opportunity for a new member to build relationships with people besides yourself, and for your teammates to gain more empathy and form connections with the community.
Find out the answer to the following questions:
- Who at your company/team is interested in participating in warm welcomes?
- How many warm welcomes do they want to do per week?
After you collect this information, you will know approximately how many warm welcomes you can support per week. This will help you know how many to schedule each week. You can use this template spreadsheet to record this info.
