Drill down into reports
Reports are a great way to get a high level understanding of your communityβs activity, but what if you want to understand it more in-depth?
In this doc, weβll show you how you can drill down into a chart on your report so you can answer the following questions:
- Which members were part of this chart?
- What specific activities were part of this chart?
- Which members/activities were part of this data spike in my chart?
Drill down to a set of members
There are two ways to view a set of members that correspond to a chart in your report. You can either click the View button on a number chart, or you can click the Members icon button on a line chart.
Clicking either of these buttons will take you to the Members table with the same filter criteria as applied on the chart. For example, if you click the button in the Active members screenshots above, you will see a list of the 207 members who were active in the last 30 days.
These drill-down buttons are available on default reports (i.e. Pulse, Totals) and on your own custom dashboards.
Drill down to a set of activities
There are also two ways to view a set of activities that correspond to a chart in your report. You can either click the View button on a number chart, or you can click the Activities icon button on a line chart.
Clicking either of these buttons will take you to the Activities tab with the same filter criteria as applied on the chart. For example, if you want to see what activities were performed in the past 30 days by new members, simply click the View button next to chart. you will then be shown a list of all 882 activities performed by new members in the past 30 days.
These drill-down buttons are available on default reports (i.e. Pulse, Totals) and on your own custom dashboards.
Drill down to analyze a data anomaly
Sometimes when you are looking at your reports, you may notice an abnormal dip or spike. To find out more about why it happened, itβs best to take a peek at who was involved and what activities happened.
1) Identify the specific date or date range that the anomaly occurred.
2) Update the timeframe of this chart to only include your specific date/date range.
- If your chart is part of a default report (like Pulse or Totals), use the timeframe widget up at the top of the report.
- If your chart is part of a custom report, click the [β¦] button at the chartβs top right section, then click Edit. Youβll then see a timeframe widget that you can click and edit.
3) Go to your chart of interest and click on the drill down icon. This will bring you to the Members table for active members on November 4th.
And thatβs it!
