An explanation of Organizations, what you can do with them, and why you should care.

We hope to continue adding more features that will make Organizations even more useful and actionable. Feel free to upvote ideas on Canny or add your own ideas there!
Why do Organizations matter?
The organization a member represents is an increasingly important factor for some communities, especially product communities. It can determine a member’s potential to buy, likelihood of contributing to the product, and indicate how they might actively engage in your community. By highlighting Organizations, we’re making it easier for you to spot prospects from interesting organizations who have become active in your community so you can use that info to build relationships and support critical new accounts.
How do you figure out which Organizations are in my workspace?
We currently pull Organization information from member Github profiles. This means that you need to integrate with Github in order for us to automatically add Organizations to your workspace. A member's organization information is only as up to date as the last time we fetched their Github profile. If a user updates their Github profile and you do not see those changes reflected in your workspace, click 'Refresh Identities' to retrieve this new information.
In the future, we will be looking at additional ways to gather Organization information about your community - so stay tuned!
