How to record event attendance
This short guide shows you how to manually add activities that represent a member attending an event.
Add an activity type for event attendance
This step is only necessary if you havenβt created the activity type for tracking event attendance before.
Open the Activity Types tab in your workspace settings. Click the button βAdd Activity Typeβ.
Complete the information in the modal dialog.
Fill out the source, key, short name, and name.
- You may choose a different key than
event:attended
if your workspace has a different naming convention. - Set the
Source
to the same value that your event registration activities have, if you have those. Itβs most likely something like Luma, Meetup, Eventbrite, or Bevy. If this does not apply to you, you can just enter βEventsβ. The value is not critical. - Assign a
Weight
above 1 if you like. Attending an event represents some commitment on behalf of the member, so a middle-of-the-road value like 5 is good. - You can use the same value for
Short name
andName
.
Click Create and youβll have a new activity type.

Add activities for each attendee
Go to the member profile page of each attendee who came to an event.
Click the Add Activity button inside the Activities area.
Fill out the modal dialog.
- Choose the Attended event activity type we created in the last step.
- Add a title. The title should be the same for every member.
- Add a description, optionally. This can be different for each member and can be used to record notes.
- Set the βOccurred onβ date to when the event took place.
- Optionally, add a link and link text to the event. This is useful to link back to the eventβs registration page.
Click Submit. The activity will be created. You can now able to find it in the memberβs timeline.
Add tags or notes
Optionally, before you leave the member profile, consider if you need to add any notes or tags. For example, if you are tagging members according to events theyβve been to in the past, this is a good time to add that tag.
